In the case of the cement industry, today's requirement profile for the manufacturing process is directed at high production capacities with low operating and capital expenditure.
For this reason, multistage cyclone preheaters with integral calciner and tertiary air duct are indispensable components of modern kiln lines. Most of the modern Preheater/calciner concepts are innovative and nevertheless technically mature for the production of white and grey cement; for new plants as well as plant conver-sions, and tailored to the desired production capacity - no matter whether this is less than 1,000 or more than 10,000 tonnes per day.

SP: Suspension Preheater kiln
Conventional single-string cyclone preheater kiln without precalciner.
ILC-E: In-Line Calciner using Excess air
Single-string cyclone preheater kiln with a small precalciner built into the kiln riser duct. Combustion air for the precalciner is drawn through the kiln.

ILC TM : In-Line Calciner
Single-string or double-string cyclone preheater kiln with precalciner built into the kiln riser duct. Combustion air for the precalciner is drawn through a separate tertiary air duct between the cooler and the calciner.
 SLC-D: Separate-Line Calciner-Downdraft
Single-string or double-string cyclone preheater kiln with a combustion chamber/precalciner placed parallel to the riser duct. Thus, the combustion in the calciner takes place using heated atmospheric air drawn from the cooler through a separate tertiary air duct. The exhaust gas from the kiln and the combustion chamber/precalciner is mixed before being introduced into the cyclone preheater.
SLC: Separate-Line Calciner
Double-string or triple-string cyclone preheater kiln with a precalciner placed parallel to the kiln riser duct. Thus, the combustion in the precalciner takes place using heated atmospheric air drawn from the cooler through a separate tertiary air duct. The exhaust gas from the precalciner and the kiln is directed through the two independent preheater strings without being mixed.
SLC-I TM: Separate-Line Calciner with In-line calciner
Double-string cyclone preheater kiln with a precalciner placed both within the kiln riser duct and parallel with the kiln riser duct. Cyclone sizes in both kiln string and calciner string are identical. For the calciner string, combustion takes place in heated atmospheric air drawn from the cooler through a separate tertiary air duct. The kiln string precalciner vessel may be either ILC-E or ILC. The exhaust gas from the kiln and calciner strings is drawn separately using independent I.D. fans.
